| This snake has a long, narrow head, distinct from it's neck. It has a long, slender body and a whip-like tail. The Black Whipsnake is dark brown to reddish brown to black. Each scale has a darker coloured edge. | |||||||

| Nocturnal and active. | |||||||

| Feeds mainly on lizards but has been recorded taking frogs. | |||||||
